The Minister of State for Defense, Hon. Bello Mohammed Matawalle, has assured that the lifting of the ban on mining solid mineral resources in Zamfara State will attract potential investors to the state.
Addressing journalists at his residence in Gusau, Zamfara State, the minister said he led some prominent personalities to meet with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and pleaded with him to lift the ban on solid mineral mining in the state.
He noted that the president, who is known for his listening ear, reasoned with them and immediately granted their request.
According to Matawalle, the lifting of the mining ban in the state will attract both foreign and national investors and create job opportunities, especially for the youth.
He further stated that resuming solid mineral mining would pave the way for many companies to relocate to the state, potentially reducing crime as employment opportunities become available.
“We are very much aware that the northern region is the poorest region in the country,” he lamented.
“No responsible government can treat the issue of poverty, hunger, and starvation with a mere wave of the hand.”
“Let me be honest with you: President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is working for every region of the country to ensure unity, stability, and cohesion nationwide,” he added.
