The Executive Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) in Sokoto, Alhaji Umar Nagwari Tambuwal, has promised to recruit volunteer teachers whenever the opportunity arises at their respective schools of service.
He made this pledge during an inspection visit to twelve training workshop centers organized by the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Sokoto, and the Better Education Service Delivery for All (BESDA) initiative, in collaboration with the National Teachers Institute (NTI), Kaduna.
The training was conducted for over 1,000 volunteer teachers from twelve selected Local Government Education Authorities in the state.
The four-day workshop was held across various centers, including Yakubu Mu’azu Science Model Primary School in Sokoto South, Muhammad Bida Model Primary School in Wamakko, Shehu Malami Model Primary School in Kware, UBE Secondary School in Sabon Birni, and Nizamiyya Islamiyya Primary School in Goronyo. Other locations included Aliyu Jodi Model Primary School in Binji, Model Primary School in Silame, Buhari Model Primary School in Tambuwal, Model Primary School in Bodinga, Model Primary School in Illela, Model Primary School in Tureta, and Sultan Ward Model Primary School in Sokoto North.
During his visit to the Yakubu Mu’azu Science Model Primary School center, the Executive Chairman, represented by Permanent Member Two, Alhaji Abdulkadir N. Gada, encouraged the participants to seize the opportunity and continue working diligently towards achieving the state’s educational goals.
At the Muhammad Bida Model Primary School, Permanent Member Three, Hon. Garba Sarki, urged the participants to apply what they had learned in their teaching and learning processes.
In his remarks, the State Coordinator of the National Teachers Institute (NTI), Kaduna, Alhaji Abubakar Ibrahim Musa, emphasized that the Cohort Three Capacity Building Workshop was designed to recognize and encourage the volunteer teachers’ commitment to the progress of education. He assured them that the state government appreciates their selfless efforts in improving the education sector.
The Secretary of the Board, Alhaji Mahmud Ahmad Wamakko, appealed to the participants to be patient, assuring them that their efforts would be recognized. He added that once the opportunity arises, they would be given priority in recruitment, as improving the education sector remains a central focus of Governor Ahmad Aliyu’s administration, which is undertaking several monumental projects throughout the state.
In their separate comments, the Acting Director of Administration of the Board, Alhaji Tukur Abdullahi, and NTI Centre Manager, Alhaji Abubakar Muhammad, urged the participants to implement the skills and knowledge gained during the training in their respective schools.
