The Nationwide President of of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Joe Ajaero, has expressed confidence that the negotiation of a brand new minimal wage between the Federal Authorities and the organized labour might be finalised earlier than March this 12 months.
Talking in a phone interview with newsmen on Thursday, Ajaero mentioned, “The Federal Authorities had by way of a letter requested the organized labour to launch our names to the brand new minimal wage committee to be constituted.
“Since final 12 months, the record was submitted to the federal government and it is just when the committee is constituted that we now go into negotiation with the federal government as a union to agree on it.
“The present minimal wage might be expiring by March this 12 months, so it’s hoped we might conclude the negotiation for a brand new minimal wage earlier than March.”
Talking on the wage award by the Federal Authorities to Nigerian workforce, he acknowledged that just one month was paid, saying, “All needs to be launched to the employees by the top of this 12 months January.”
