The Soun of Ogbomoso Land, Oba Ghandi Olaoye, has called on sons and daughters of the town, both at home and in the diaspora, to join hands in the moves to develop the town.
Oba Laoye, who made the call at a grand reception organised for him in Jos, Plateau State, said a new era has begun in Ogbomoso land and implored the sons and daughters to return home and be part of the ongoing movement to bring desirable progress and development to the ancient city.
The traditional ruler highlighted that the people of Ogbomosho possess two key traits: they are both warriors and entrepreneurs, adding that the two traits have made them stand out wherever they found themselves.
“But I must tell you that another attribute of warriors and entrepreneurs is that both often return home after their exploits outside the state. Warriors often look forward to the time they return home, while the desire of every entrepreneur is also to return whenever he is plying his trade or businesses.
“To achieve this, it’s crucial that the indigenous people embrace their town with love and pride. I believe this is the foundation for meaningful growth.
Oba Olaoye further charged the natives of Ogbomoso and Yorubas living in the North to dwell in unity and peace, adding that his cardinal objective is to work towards rebuilding his domain.
“We are working towards repositioning Ogbomoso land. The government alone cannot do it; much of the effort has to come from us. So we have to roll up our sleeves and work together to develop our town.” He said.
In his welcome address, the Asiwaju Yoruba of Plateau, Chief Olajide Olagbemiro, described the Yoruba living in Plateau State as peace-loving people who are committed to the peaceful coexistence of their environment.
Chief Olagbemiro said with the laudable programs being put in place, coupled with the integrity and personality of the monarch, Ogbomoso is on its way to becoming a great and developed land.
