The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and other tourism and hospitality stakeholders, who have made significant contributions to the growth and development of the industry in Lagos will be honoured with Destination Lagos Awards 2024 on December 27, 2024 at JK Randle Cultural Centre, Onikan, Lagos.
According to the organisers of Destination Lagos Awards, the 2024 edition aims to recognise and celebrate the achievements of individuals and organisations that have demonstrated excellence in tourism and hospitality.
Commending Governor Sanwo-Olu’s efforts in tourism development in Lagos, the newly elected National Vice President of the Association of Tourism Practitioners of Nigeria (ATPN) covering the South West Region, and immediate past Chairman of the Lagos Chapter, who is also Project Director of the Destination Lagos Awards, Hon. Apata Samson Nunayon, said: Sanwo- Olu’s administration has been instrumental in promoting tourism in Lagos State. His vision for tourism development is unparalleled, and we are proud to recognise his efforts through the Destination Lagos Awards.”
Apata, who is also the CEO of Eko Destination Ltd, highlighted the governor’s achievements in the tourism sector, including the development of the Lagos State Tourism Masterplan, which aims to harness and develop the state’s tourism resources into different products of attraction for both in-bound and out-bound tourists. He also commended the Governor’s commitment to completing key tourism infrastructure projects, including the JK Randle Centre for Yoruba Arts and Culture, which has become a symbol of peace and culture in Lagos and by extension the South West Region of Nigeria.
Remarking, Managing Director of Donias and Head of the Expatriate Communities Committee of the Destination Lagos Awards, Mr. Diwesh said: “The Destination Lagos Awards 2024 is a unique opportunity for us to celebrate the rich cultural heritage of Lagos State and honour the outstanding contributions of individuals and organisations in the tourism and hospitality industry.”
The event will feature a lineup of activities that includes cultural performances showcasing the diversity of Lagos State’s cultural heritage, Art and Crafts exhibition featuring the works of local artisuty Pageant tagged “Oju Ibile Eko”, Super cultural performance by the Indian community in Lagos among others.
