All is set for the inauguration of the multimillion-naira remodelled Ifetedo Central Mosque on Friday, December 13, in Ifetedo, headquarters of Ife South Local Government Area of Osun State.
The chief host of the event, which will be attended by eminent scholars and Islamic leaders from different parts of the country, is the renowned philanthropist and Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Professor Yusuf Ali.
The chairman of the organising committee of the programme, Professor Rashid Aderinoye, said in a statement issued in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, on Wednesday, that the programme will begin at 10 am at the premises of the ultra-modern mosque edifice.
The mosque, built between 1960 and 1966, was remodelled by Professor Ali, who is the Kulyan Ngeri of Ilorin Emirate and an indigene of Ifetedo.
According to the statement, the chairman of the occasion is the president of the Muslim Ummah of South West Nigeria (MUSWEN) and Deputy President General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), Alhaji Rasaki Oladejo.
The statement added that the Aare Musulumi of Yorubaland, Alhaji Dawud Akinola, is expected to be the special guest of honour.
It stated that the Asiwaju Musulumi of Yorubaland, Alhaji Khamis Olatunde Badmus, will be the guest of honour while an eminent scholar, Sheikh Abdurahaman Adangba, is the guest speaker.
The host of the event is the Olubosin of Ifetedo, Oba Akinola Akinrera Latiri I.
Other distinguished guests expected at the occasion include the Secretary General of the NSCIA and Registrar of the joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Professor Is-haq Oloyede, who is the Kuliyan Sokoto; chairman of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of MUSWEN, Dr Wale Babalakin; and chairman of the Ibadan Muslim Community, Chief Bayo Oyero.
The statement explained that the spiritual host of the occasion is the Chief Imam of Ifetedo, Alhaji Abdul Jabar Akindunni.
