Eminent Nigerians, including political leaders, Islamic scholars, and other dignitaries, are expected to grace the 3rd Day Fidau prayers for the late Sheikh Muideen Ajani Bello today at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan.
The event will be led by the Chief Imam of Ibadanland, Sheikh AbdulGaniy Abubakri Agbotomokekere, alongside a host of prominent Islamic scholars from across Nigeria.
The prayers will commemorate the life and legacy of Sheikh Bello, a renowned Islamic preacher whose impact resonated far beyond the Muslim community.
Sheikh Bello passed away on Friday at a private hospital following a brief illness and was buried the same day in accordance with Islamic rites at his Akobo residence.
His death has been met with an outpouring of tributes, with many describing him as an influential religious leader and a guiding light for the Islamic faith.
The death of an Islamic cleric, Sheikh Muyideen Ajani Bello, has been described as a colossal loss to Nigerians and Muslim Ummah across the world.
The lawmaker representing Oyo North Senatorial District, Senator Buhari Abdulfatai made this declaration in a release issued in the early hours of today and made available to journalists.
According to the lawmaker, Sheikh Bello was known as unparalleled Islamic scholar, second to none among his peers and colleagues in the job of propagation of Islam as a religion and good deeds among various classes of man.
While narrating that the late preacher of international accolades was a critic who played his Godly and objective roles in fostering peace, unity and good deeds between the masses and the government of Nigeria will be proudly remembered as a father, mentor and developmental critic.
“Sheikh Bello was a courageous and very bold Islamic Preacher who would never sacrifice propagation of Islam and ideal human society to the people in the corridor of power no matter your personal relationship with him. He would appreciate you for doing good but also condemned you whenever you transgressed,” Senator Buhari hinted.
Highlighting the unique attribute that distinguished the late Sheikh Bello as a preacher, Senator Buhari said with vivid communication skills, Sheikh Bello recorded positive impacts in the lives of numerous Nigerians, both those in government and the masses.
Also reacting to the death of the fierce cleric, the Baba Adinni of Oke Ogun, Dr. Ahmed Raji, has described Bello as a loss to humanity.
In a statement made available to Sunday Tribune, Dr. Raji described the late Islamic cleric as a unique creature of Allah who used his entire life to propagate Islam as a religion of peace and good deeds, Dr. Raji stated that the late Sheikh Bello will be remembered as an epitome of harmonious relations among humanity irrespective of their natural and unnatural barriers.
Dr. Raji said the roles and legacies that the deceased left behind for both Muslims and non-Muslims will forever serve as guides and references capable of fostering ideal human society beyond the shores of Nigeria as a country.
“Sheikh Bello was a kind of Islamic preacher who demonstrated contentment believing that one of the greatest assets that Allah can give to his creature is the mindset of satisfaction and seeing God as The Only Sustainer.
Also, a former Minister of Sports and Special Duties, Professor Taoheed Adedoja, has said the demise of Bello, is a personal loss, describing the deceased as a great cleric and confidant. In a condolence message released on Saturday in Ibadan Oyo State, Professor Adedoja noted that there was a prolonged bond between his my late parents and the deceased dating back to the 1960s. The former Dean of the Faculty of Education, Bayero University Kano, stated: “I have lost a friend, brother, guidance, and confidant. Our upbringing in adherence to the tenets of Islam has been a major bond between my late parents and the late Sheik Muhidden Ajani Bello, dating back to our membership of the Ansar Udeen Islamic society in Kano since the 60s. “Although far older than me, he never allowed this to exhibit in our relationship. “A great Islamic cleric, Alhaji Muhideen Bello will be remembered for his preachings, stands for the common man and for his philanthropic activities.” He prayed that Allah accept him in Aljanatul Firdaus.
