Osun Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke has lauded the resilience, creativity, and potential of persons with disabilities as the state marked the 2024 World Disability Day.
Adeleke, who was represented by the Special Adviser on Special Needs in the state, Kamil Aransi commended PWDs in the state earlier today at Osogbo Grammar School Hall during an event themed “Amplifying the Leadership of Persons with Disability for an Inclusive and Sustainable Future.”
While emphasizing that the PWDs’ resilience challenges societal stereotypes, Aransi said the Osun State Government is committed to empowering PWDs through policy reforms, advocacy, and empowerment programmes.
He also seized the opportunity to make a resounding call for amplifying the leadership of persons with disabilities (PWDs) to create an inclusive and sustainable future.
“Persons with disabilities are not defined by their challenges but by their resilience, creativity, and potential.
“Across Osun and beyond, we see PWDs excelling in arts, sports, education, governance, and entrepreneurship, proving that disability is not inability,” he said.
He further stressed that leadership among PWDs goes beyond individual success to include collective advocacy for systemic change, making their voices central to achieving an inclusive and sustainable society.
