Shooting Stars forward Anthony Okachi is enjoying a new lease of life with Shooting Stars after scoring three goals in their last four games in the Nigeria Premier Football League, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
The former Ikorodu City and Enyimba striker has been a regular for the Oluyole Warriors since rejoining them at the start of the season, but he wasn’t unable to hit the ground running until the middle of November.
His first goal of the season came in a 2-1 defeat against his former side Ikorodu City in Lagos on November 17 and he has added two more goals against Bayelsa United and Abia Warriors to help 3SC’s resurgence.
“It’s just God, patience and hard work,” Okachi told PUNCH Sports Extra after scoring his third goal of the campaign on Sunday.
“It’s has been a tough one, last season was not a season to remember after I got injured and I think all season I played just 90mins altogether, I knew I needed to work hard,” he added.
Okachi’s struggles for goals at the start of the season is akin to his club’s run but the striker believes that they can still make the best out of the campaign.
“Generally, things have been mixed for us this season but we keep working every day and we believe that the results will come.”
After 15 rounds of matches, Gbenga Ogunbote’s side are seventh in the NPFL with 21 points. They have managed six wins, three draws and six losses.
They will hope to build on their 2-0 win against Abia Warriors when they travel to Ijebu Ode to face Sunshine Stars in a Southwest derby on Sunday.
