The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Gwabin Musa, commended members of the National Assembly for the speedy screening of the Acting Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General OO Oluyede.
General Musa, who was at the NASS to witness the screening process in both chambers, was impressed with the manner at which the Senate and House Committees for Army screened the Acting Chief of Army Staff.
The Director, Defence Information, Brigadier General Tukur Gusau, said in a statement that General Musa assured the National Assembly that Lt Gen Oluyede would bring new vigour and his vast experience to bear in the fight against insecurity if confirmed as substantive Chief of Army Staff.
The CDS, while assuring that Lt Gen Oluyede would build on the legacy of the late Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Taoreed Lagbaja, described the prompt action of the NASS as patriotic and apt at this critical time.
Gen. Musa, who reaffirmed the commitment of the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) to securing the nation, equally pledged its loyalty to the constituted authority in pursuit of its constitutional roles.
