Bauchi State Governor, Sen Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir, has pledged that his administration will continue to pay counterpart funds to all development partners as contained in all MoUs signed to enable the state to benefit from both national and international donor interventions for improved healthcare delivery services.
He made the pledge during a courtesy visit by officials from Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders), led by Head of Mission and Country Director, Dr. Adams Usmane Ngare, at the Governor’s office on Wednesday.
The Governor acknowledged especially the contribution of the Doctors Without Borders humanitarian services in the country and the world.
He pledged that his administration will support the organization to achieve its aims of coming to Bauchi State saying that he was not conversant with the operation of the organization until recently.
Bala Mohammed expressed gratitude for Médecins Sans Frontières’ interventions and emphasised that healthcare remains a priority for his administration.
He noted that the organisation’s contributions have significantly bolstered healthcare delivery in Bauchi State.
This, Bala Mohammed said, would enhance healthcare services and improve the well-being of residents.
The Head of Mission and Country Director, Dr Adams Usmane Ngare, said that the Médecins sans Frontiers (Doctors without Borders) is an international humanitarian health organisation that supports the health of children through nutrition activities and other children’s killer diseases.
He said that the organisation has been supporting the state in various aspects of healthcare delivery through the upgrade of some facilities and supply of equipment.
According to him, the organisation has a health facility in Kafin Madaki, Ganjuwa LGA, where it takes care of children who are malnourished as well as women who need medical attention, pointing out that the facility has been upgraded and expanded.
He also stated that plans have been concluded to have another one in the Miya community where issues of men’s health will also be attended to alongside those of women and children.
