Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation, Prof Terlumun Utsev, said Nigeria is endowed with enough water resources to boost food production and poverty alleviation.
He made this known in Abuja when he declared open a two-day workshop on national action plan for harnessing water resources for food and security, and poverty alleviation in Nigeria.
Utsev stated that the federal government was committed to harnessing the great water resources potentials to promote sustainable growth of the national economy
He further called for collaboration among states and other stakeholders in the water sector for the actualisation of the goals of the present administration in the country.
The permanent secretary in the ministry, Mr Richard Pheelangwah, earlier in his welcome address, described the enhancement of water resources as a global best practice to address farmers’ challenges and promote sustainable development.
Christy Oduh, Director of River Basin Operations and Inspectorate, appreciated the minister, permanent secretary, and participants for their commitment to safe water and sanitation.
