The Estu Nupe, Alhaji Yahyah Abubakar, and the Kebbi State governor, Dr. Nasir Idris, have appealed to all Nigerians to be united for the progress and peace of the country.
They stated this during the agriculture show held at Birnin Kebbi as part of activities of the maiden Gwandu Emirate Horsing Race and Cultural Festival.
Estu Nupe, who is the chairman Niger State Council of Chiefs, chaired the occasion, and described Kebbi State as an emerging agriculture hub of Nigeria. He said the efforts of Governor Idris in investing in agriculture would transform the state to food basket of the Nigeria soon.
He said: “We are here this morning to witness this important agriculture show, which is part of Gwandu Emirate Horsing Race and Cultural Festival that is being supported by the governor.
“It is our prayers that Kebbi, Niger and entire Nigeria will continue to witness peace so that our people could continue to progress. I pray too that the Almighty God will continue to protect the governor and give him wisdom to be directing the affairs of the state for the betterment of Nigeria “.
The traditional ruler commended the state governor for his initiative to showcase the culture of the people.
Speaking, the Kebbi governor explained that his administration had promised the people of the state of his continuation to promote the culture of all the four emirates in the state, stressing that through that, the people will be united.
Earlier, the Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Alhaji Usman Ladan Dakingari, disclosed that the present administration is working hard to establish a dry port in the state, noting that it will create about three million jobs after completion.
The ceremony was also attended by Emir Zuru, Major -General Muhammad Sani Sami Gomo II; Emir Kaigara of Niger State, Alhaji Ahmed Attairu II; and Oba Adekunle Adeabo of Otun-Ekiti in Ekiti State, among others.
