The Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF) has hailed former President Goodluck Jonathan as Nigeria’s greatest peace ambassador on the occasion of his 67th birthday, celebrated on 20th November 2024.
In a statement signed by PANDEF’s National Chairman, Ambassador Godknows Igali, the forum praised Jonathan’s exemplary dedication to democracy and peace, both within Nigeria and globally.
“You have really done well in life and stand out as a global icon of democracy and peace,” stated Ambassador Igali, referencing Jonathan’s historic decision in 2015 to concede defeat in Nigeria’s presidential election before the final results were announced.
Igali highlighted this gesture as a testament to Jonathan’s famous mantra: “My political ambition is not worth the blood of a single Nigerian.”

PANDEF commended Jonathan’s consistent refusal to challenge electoral results in court, describing him as “the only major Nigerian politician” to uphold such integrity despite noticeable flaws in the electoral process.
The forum lauded his ongoing role in promoting democracy and good governance across Africa and the world.
Ambassador Igali also reaffirmed PANDEF’s unwavering support for Jonathan in all his future endeavours.
“The dignified role, which nature has bestowed on you as a global peace icon, speaks for itself,” Igali noted, adding that PANDEF prays for Jonathan’s continued impact and blessings in the years ahead.
The congratulatory message was also signed by Chief Obiuwevbi Ominimini, PANDEF’s spokesman, who expressed the organisation’s collective wishes for Jonathan’s health, strength, and enduring contributions to humanity.
