Workers under the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Administration are set to receive a new minimum wage of N70,000 following the approval of the payment by the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike.
The development was announced by the Acting Head of the Civil Service for the FCT, Mrs. Grace Adayilo, in a statement released on Tuesday in Abuja through her Press Secretary, Ewhenji Anthony Odey.
According to the statement, the Minister also approved the payment of three months’ arrears for all FCT staff, effective from November 2024.

The move, described as part of the Minister’s commitment to staff welfare, is expected to motivate employees to contribute more effectively to the administration’s goals.
“This gesture will further spur the entire staff of the Administration to support the Minister to continue to deliver on the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” Mrs. Adayilo said.
She also expressed gratitude to the Minister for his prompt approvals of staff allowances and claims, underscoring his dedication to improving workers’ conditions.
Tribune Online reports that on Monday, Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia also approved a minimum wage of ₦75,000 for workers in the state with effect from November 2024, and added that the three months’ salary arrears will be paid along with the new minimum wage.
