Presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in 2023 election, Mr Peter Obi; Chief Executive Officer of Air Peace, Allen Onyema, Chairman and co-founder of SEPLAT, ABC Orjiako); Festus Marinho and other philanthropists are expected to lead the pack at a Thanksgiving dinner and Awards by the Dominican university in Lagos.
Also, other distinguished, past contributors to the educational project including: Val Tongo, Tony Idigbe, Walter Akpani, Patrick Akinwutan, Bode Emanuel, Festus and Lee Ikpea have all promised to grace the occasion that promises to be memorable.
A statement by the publicity committee of the event issued by Ralph Ezike, said the event is part of the design plan to foster the future of Nigerian youth through quality education.
In a statement made available to The Sun, it noted that the Dominican University Education Foundation (DUEF), in partnership with Dominican University Ibadan, are organizing the project aimed at raising funds for the university.
“The Thanksgiving Dinner and Awards will hold on November 30, 2024 at the Catholic Church of Divine Mercy in Lekki, Lagos.” It noted.
Part of the statement reads: ” The thanksgiving dinner is more than an evening of gratitude and celebration; it is a call to action to uplift the dreams of countless young Nigerians.
“Organised by DUEF, the primary aim of this event is to raise essential funds for Dominican University Ibadan and its ongoing educational projects, which aims to break the cycle of poverty by empowering Nigerian youth with opportunities for robust education, character formation and leadership training.
“We are deeply committed to fostering a new generation of responsible leaders and active citizens, an effort that resonates with the values and mission of Dominican University Ibadan.
“In a time Nigeria is facing challenges of corrupt leadership and disengaged citizenry. We believe that nurturing a well-rounded, educated youth population can catalyse change, create a brighter future, and contribute to a stronger Africa.
“This event will honour distinguished supporters whose tireless efforts and contributions have made a meaningful impact in advancing our vision.”
The statement noted further that their mission goes beyond traditional academics; focusing on developing character and leadership qualities, empowering youths to be educated, engaged and liberated.”
