The Edo State House of Assembly on Monday passed a revised supplementary budget of N485 billion for the Governor Monday Okpebholo-led state government.
Arogidigba Global Journal reports that the House at the plenary also screened and confirmed Dr Cyril Oshiomhole as the state’s Commissioner for Health.
While passing the revised Appropriation Bill, the Speaker of the House, Blessing Agbebaku, said the budget would enable the newly sworn-in governor to continue developmental projects in the state.
In the bill, the sum of N283.087 billion is allocated to capital expenditure while the sum of N202.54 billion goes for recurrent expenditures.
Arogidigba Global Journal recalls that the State House of Assembly had on May 22, 2024, approved the sum of N409.2 billion supplementary budget for the administration of the immediate past governor of the state, Godwin Obaseki.
The supplementary budget was approved barely five months after the House hiked the 2024 budget of N321.4 billion earlier presented to it by the governor to N342.8 billion – increasing the sum by N17.5 billion.
Arogidigba Global Journal also recalls that the House had in August 2024 approved and passed a N450 billion revised supplementary budget presented by Obaseki barely one month before the September 21, 2024 governorship election.
The revised supplementary budget of N486 billion approved by the Okpebholo-led government is N36 billion higher than the N450 billion okayed by Obaseki.
