The national secretariat of the All Progressives Congress has congratulated its candidate in Saturday’s governorship election in Ondo state, Lucky Aiyedatiwa over his victory.
The incumbent governor earned a fresh mandate of four years defeating his closest rival and Peoples Democratic Party candidate, Agboola Ajayi by a margin of 248,936 votes.
In the results announced by INEC Presiding Officer who incidentally is the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Lokoja, Professor Olayemi Akinwunmi, Aiyedatiwa won in all the 18 local government areas in Ondo state.
The APC National Publicity Secretary, Barrister Felix Morka in a statement on Sunday declared that its candidate victory was an attestation to the fact that Aiyedatiwa policies and programmes resonated with the Ondo electorate.
The statement further admonished him to build on his achievements.
It reads in part: “The All Progressives Congress (APC) heartily congratulates the Governor of Ondo State, His Excellency, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, on his re-election.
“Your Excellency’s resounding victory in the just-concluded Ondo state gubernatorial election is a clear attestation that your administration’s policies and programmes, and campaign message of hope and consolidation have resonated deeply with the electorate.
“With this renewed mandate, we are confident that you will build upon your accomplishments, and take the state to even greater heights of social and economic development for the benefit of the good people of Ondo state.
“We commend the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the security agencies for their professionalism and patriotism in the discharge of their constitutional roles during the election.
“We thank the Ondo electorate for their sustained and highly valued support of our great Party.”
