Aformer member of the House of Representatives, Hon Chidi Nwogu has commended the efforts of the Provost of College of Medicine, University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Prof Bond Anyaehie towards facilitating the accreditation of the Federal University of Technology Owerri Medical School by the Medical & Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN).
According to the former lawmaker, the achievement came to fruition through the unwavering belief in the capacity of Prof Anyaehie by the Imo State governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, who insisted on incorporating Prof Anyaehie in the facilitation team as the head.
The MDCN delegation led by its Register, Dr. Nwakanma, Head Medical Education Unit, was impressed by the leadership role of the pioneer provost, Prof Anyaehie and the facilities on ground at the FUTO Teaching Hospital at FMC Owerri, as well as the efforts of its Chief Medical Director (CMD), Dr. Kingsley Achigbu.
Vice Chancellor of FUTO, Prof Nnenna Otti, showered appreciation to God for all the notable achievements recorded under her tenure.
According to her, the major positive implication of this development is 100 per cent increase in the admission quota of the medical school from 50 to 100.
The Vice Chancellor finally extended her gratitude to President Bola Tinubu, Governor Hope Uzodimma, ministers, permanent secretaries, and directors in the Health and Education ministries; Pro Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Sen Jack Tilley Gyado; Prof Bond Anyaehie, Hon Chidi Nwogu and others.
