Oyo state government has intensified its efforts on the provision of infrastructure with the approval of the rehabilitation of an additional 8.87km of roads as well the construction of Parking lots at the Government Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan.
The approvals were given at the 12th State Executive Council meeting in Ibadan on Tuesday.
Briefing the newsmen on the resolution of the meeting, the Commissioner for Public Works and Transport, Prof. David Sangodoyin, Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Prof. Musibau Babatunde and Commissioner of Education, Prof. Soliu Adelabu and Commissioner of Information, Prince Dotun Oyelade reiterated the commitment of the present administration to the provision of infrastructure and socio-economic growth through the provision of the necessary infrastructure.
Sangodoyin disclosed that the Executive Council has approved the asphaltic 7.17km selected roads at Old and New Bodija in Ibadan North local government area at contract sum of N5.63bn while the project duration is eight months.
Giving a breakdown, Ogundoyin stated that 4.16km has been marked for rehabilitation at Old Bodija while 2.68km would be carried out at New Bodija.
He added that rehabilitation of 1.7km Molete-Challenge and 3.5km Idi-Odo-Felele-Onigaari-Lagos/Ibadan expressway has been awarded at a contract sum of N5.97bn while the duration for the completion of the project is eight months.
Ogundoyin disclosed further that the government has approved the rehabilitation of the road network within the State Secretariat, Agodi, the freedom flyover and the construction of the Parking lots.
The project, according to him, will be handled by the Ministry of Public Works and Transport.
In his own report, the Commissioner of Education, Prof. Soliu Adelabu said the Council has approved N1.15bb for remodelling and revamping of two Technical Colleges in line with the World Bank Technical Vocational Educational and Training.
He gave the names of the two selected schools as Government Technical Colleges Saki and Ibadan Technical College.
On 2024 Budget performance, the Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Prof. Musibau Babatunde said put the rating at 64.4%.
He disclosed that the Budget performance between January-September stands at 64.4%.
Babatunde said the performance was hinged on the commitment of the government to infrastructural development and economic growth.
