The Nigeria National Grid has suffered yet another collapse on Wednesday.
This was announced on the official X handle of the National Grid, saying, “BREAKING: National Grid suffers another setback. Restoration soon!”
At 2:45 PM, hourly generation readings from various power generation companies indicated a total generation capacity of zero megawatts across multiple facilities, including Afam IV & V, Azura-EDO, Egbin, and several others.
This incident follows three previous collapses that occurred within a single week at the end of last month, marking the ninth grid disturbance of 2024.

As the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has yet to confirm the cause of this latest blackout, Nigerians are left in the dark about the reasons behind the grid failure.
The first blackout of the year occurred on February 4, when the grid’s capacity plummeted from 2,407 megawatts to just 31 megawatts by noon, leading to a complete shutdown by 1 PM.
