In its resolve to make foodstuffs available for the citizens, the sum of N3 billion has been earmarked by the Bauchi State Government for the purchase of harvested foodstuffs.
The disclosure was made by the State Governor, Sen Bala Abdulkadir who assured that the foodstuffs would later be sold to the general public at subsidised prices.
He stressed that this underscored the efforts to lessen the negative effects of inflation amongst the masses across the state considering the current economic situation of the country.
The Governor stated this at the maiden edition of the Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed Colloquium, with the theme: “Celebrating the Architect of Modern Bauchi at 66,” held in Bauchi on Saturday.
Bala Mohammad reiterated that more agricultural extension workers would be engaged to boost farmers’ income and ensure food security in the State.
He further said that there is the plan for the introduction of Youths to modern technology in order to train not fewer than 10,000 of them in ICT towards making them self-reliant.
The Governor also announced that his administration has concluded plans to employ additional 10,000 workers by the end of 2024.
Bala Mohammed then said that the government is aware of inadequate qualified Teachers in schools, Nurses in hospitals and low experts in the agricultural sector, assuring that he would do the needful to fill the vacuum.
He, however, outlined his administration’s achievements in education, infrastructure, road projects, and other sectors vital to Bauchi State’s progress.
