In a bid to bolster the operations of the National Lottery Trust Fund (NLTF), President Bola Tinubu has unveiled a comprehensive four-year strategic plan aimed at transforming the Fund and maximising its impact on various good causes across Nigeria.
The event took place at the Aso Villa Banquet Hall on Monday, marking a pivotal milestone in the history of the NLTF.
Speaking on behalf of the president, George Akume, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), expressed confidence in the strategic plan’s potential to enhance outreach to marginalised communities.
“This initiative is part of President Tinubu’s broader efforts to drive economic transformation, ensure security, enhance food production, and improve social services,” Akume stated, emphasising the government’s commitment to supporting vulnerable individuals and communities.
Executive Secretary of NLTF, Comrade Tosin Adeyanju, highlighted the importance of the new Revenue Assurance Platform (RAP) introduced under Tinubu’s leadership.
“This platform will help the lottery industry achieve its mandate,” he noted, presenting the strategic plan developed during the first two months of his tenure.
Adeyanju reflected on the NLTF’s achievements since its inception in 2005, with over 306 projects successfully implemented nationwide. “Our strategic plan aligns with the current administration’s vision for sustainable development and social welfare,” he affirmed.
Senator Victor Umeh, representing the Senate President, praised Adeyanju’s swift accomplishments since his appointment, expressing optimism about the strategic plan’s potential to elevate NLTF’s impact. Hon. Canice Moore, Chair of the House Committee on Inter-governmental Affairs, also commended the new leadership and pledged support from the House of Representatives.
Minister of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs, Hon. Zephaniah Jisalo, alongside the Permanent Secretary, Dr Maryam Keshinro, echoed the significance of the strategic plan in prioritising good causes across Nigeria, assuring that Nigerians would benefit from its implementation.
The event was attended by various government officials, including ministers, executive secretaries, directors-general, and members of the National Assembly, all united in their support for the NLTF’s new direction.
