Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, has called on President Bola Tinubu, to consider the construction of railway track from Sokoto to Badagry in Lagos State.
Sultan made the demand on Thursday in Illela local government area of Sokoto State during the flag-off of 1,068 kilometres superhighway road from Illela to Badagry.
He called on the federal government to make provision for railway transport from Sokoto to Lagos, “since 2015, we have been demanding this, we deserve railway transportation in this state and I will continue to disturb Mr President on it”
Sultan Abubakar, while commending the federal government for the construction of the illegal to Badagry superhighway road, also appealed for timely completion of Sokoto to Zaria road which he said is very dear to the people of the state.
Halso call on the federal government to work with the governors of each of the state to cooperate in the speedy completion of the road, while assuring that he will monitor the progress of the road himself.
Also, the former governor of Kebbi State, Senator Adamu Aliero, also appeal to the federal government to consider the construction of railway service connecting Sokoto to Lagos.
Aliero, who is also a former Minister of Federal Capital Territory said the railway track will contribute in no small way to the economy of the country with ease of movement of goods and services from the North and Southern part of the country.
