Francisco Udofia Foundation Africa in collaboration with the United Nations International Children Education Fund (UNICEF) and the Great Impact Foundation said it target is to take the basic hygiene advocacy to 31 public schools across local government areas in Akwa Ibom State
Founder of the group, Francisco Udofia stated this while speaking with Journalists after an education seminar held at Uyo High School, on Friday.
He said the motive behind the initiative is to save lives and make young people become conscious of basic hygiene tips—-clean body, clean environment, clean hands and a clear mind.
“We are a non-profit organization that focuses on education, healthcare and empowerment and on the side of empowerment, the girl child/ women empowerment.
“Today we organized an education seminar in collaboration with UNICEF and the Great Impacts Foundation to carry out this project, to be able to educate young people on the need to keep to the basic health hygiene tips for sustainability and for growth health wise.
“So, we intend to actually visit all the public schools in each of the 31 local governments, even if we don’t hold any incentive, but we make a presence and teach them about this health hygiene.
“The ideology is to actually preserve lives in Akwa Ibom State and to make young people be self acclaimed, have peace of mind because this health tips deal with four things what i called four seeds” Clean body, clean environment, clean hands and a clear mind.
“Once you have a peace of mind, once you are not thinking evil, once you are not wishing another person evil, you will have time to think about yourself and be self aware that oh i have not washed my hands and i have not clean my environment” Udofia stated
He stated that having made a lot of impact in the South West region, it was time for him to come home to Akwa Ibom State, adding ” it was a great opportunity to finally bring something like this home”.
At the seminar which lasted for over 2 hours, he urged the pupils to prioritize washing of hands and ensure that their environment is kept clean
He said statistics have shown that washing of hands holds 47 percent staying alive and 47 percent in killing us because of the bacteria, urging the students to be conscious of this.
