Leaders of people living with disabilities (PLWDs) in the Kano State chapter of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) on Wednesday officially endorsed, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), QAT Foundation, Dr Halimat Adenike Tejuosho, to be appointed as the next Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation.
The PLWDs endorsement came as Nigerians expect the plan cabinet reshuffle the Presidency recently announced would soon be carried out by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Since the suspension of Dr Betta Edu in January by President Tinubu, the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation is yet to get a replacement, leaving the ministry without a substantive head.
According to a press statement jointly signed by the Kano State APC disability leader, Alhaji Adamu Gidado Gwangwazo, Chairman of the crippled association, Yahya A. Yahya and a former special adviser to former governor Umar Ganduje, Aminu Aminu, made available to Tribune Online in Abuja informed that the decision to endorse Tejuosho for the ministerial role was taken during a gathering at the APC state office in Kano.

According to the statement, the choice of the QAT Foundation boss was based on her dedicated advocacy and impactful initiatives aimed at empowering marginalized communities.
“Her extensive background in humanitarian efforts and her deep commitment to addressing the challenges faced by PLWDs make her a formidable candidate for this crucial position,” the statement read in part.
The PLWDs commended Dr Tejuosho’s unwavering commitment to social justice, adding that, “her experience and passion uniquely qualify her to tackle the pressing needs of our communities.”
The statement added that leaders of the people living with disabilities expressed their belief that Tejuosho’s appointment could lead to transformative policies and programmes that would directly benefit vulnerable populations across Nigeria.
The group submitted that Tejuosho’s endorsement represented a collective aspiration among PLWDs in Kano State for a more equitable society, with the QAT Foundation CEO seen as a catalyst for much-needed change.
While calling on the leadership of the ruling APC to consider Tejuosho’s nomination seriously, each leader of the PLWDs underscored the significant progress that she has made through her initiatives at the QAT Foundation, which they claimed focused on poverty alleviation and enhancing inclusivity for PLWDs.

o received support from a diverse group of leaders, including he APC Kano Central disability leader, Sa’adu Ibrahim, liaison officer to the FCT Minister, Engineer Musa Shaga and representatives from various disability associations.
