The leaders of the Nigeria Labour Coalition and the Trade Union Congress are currently meeting with representatives of the Federal Government at the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation over the recent hike in fuel prices.
Present at the meeting are Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, the National Security Adviser; Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, Labour Minister; Wale Edun, and the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy.
Others in attendance include Alhaji Mohammed Idris, Information Minister; Heineken Lokpobiri, Minister of State for Petroleum; Ekperikpe Ekpo, Minister of State for Petroleum Resources; and representatives of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited.
The Nigeria Labour Congress earlier decried the recent hike in the price of Premium Motor Spirit, popularly known as petrol, nationwide. The body of workers also demanded an immediate reversal of the hike, accusing the government of focusing solely on fuel price increments.
In a statement signed by its president, Joe Ajaero, the NLC called on the government to inform Nigerians of the destination it plans to take the country to.
