The University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID), in collaboration with ActionAid Nigeria, has on Saturday held a graduation ceremony for its inaugural class of 32 professionals from the Humanitarian Development-Peace (HDP) Nexus Academy.
The program aims to enhance collaborative response to humanitarian crises in Nigeria, particularly in the Northeast region.
Programme Coordinator, Professor Kawu Monguno, said the graduates would change the narrative in development, peace, and humanitarian activities.
“The HDP Nexus Academy integrates peacebuilding into development and humanitarian efforts,” Monguno explained.
Dr. Zainab Muhamma, a board member, noted that the training fosters synergy among experts.
“We gathered experts from diverse fields to enhance teamwork and achieve impactful outcomes,” Mohammed said.
ActionAid Nigeria’s Resilience Programme Manager, David Habba, stressed collaboration across sectors.
“The real competition lies in Nigeria’s challenges, not among practitioners,” Habba emphasised.
The graduation marks a significant milestone in UNIMAID’s commitment to fostering expertise in humanitarian, development, and peacebuilding efforts.
