The Anambra State Government has announced restriction of movement in the state from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, for Saturday’s local council elections.
A statement by the Commissioner for Information, Dr Law Mefor said the restriction is to ensure a seamless local government election in the state.
He said: “Ndi Anambra are hereby informed that there is a movement restriction throughout Anambra state on Saturday, September 28, 2024, from 8 a.m to 4 p.m, as the Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC) requested.
“The restriction order is to ensure a peaceful and seamless exercise during the Anambra State Local Government Council Election.”
Mefor explained that only those on election duties and services such as ANSIEC officials, electoral observers, accredited journalists, ambulances responding to medical emergencies, firefighters, etc, are allowed to move on the roads.
He advised that in the interest of peace, everyone is advised to comply fully with the order to avoid the wrath of the law.
