Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said that his country is changing the balance of power on its northern front.
According to him Israel is not waiting for a threat, it’s ahead of it.
The statement comes after death toll from Monday’s Israeli strikes on Lebanon rose to 274, with 1,024 people wounded, according to the Lebanese health minister.
Arogidigba Global Journal reports that Israel’s military launched the most intensive airstrikes in Lebanon since 2006 in what it said were Hezbollah targets.
“I promised to change the security balance, the balance of power in the north – this is exactly what we’re doing,” Netanyahu said on Monday at a meeting in the headquarters of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).
“We’re dismantling thousands of rockets and missiles aimed at Israeli cities and citizens,” he added.
According to Netanyahu, Israelis faced “complex days” ahead, asking them to follow the Home Front Command guidelines.
“To those who didn’t understand, I would like to clarify Israel’s policy: we’re not waiting for a threat, we are ahead of it,” he said.
