Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Christopher Musa has stated that the military will arrest the notorious bandit kingpin Bello Turji, who is currently hiding in the forests of Sokoto and Zamfara, emphasising that his capture is only a matter of time.
General Musa made this assurance during the 38th-anniversary dinner of the Nigerian Defence Academy’s 38 Regular Course in Kaduna on Sunday.
He acknowledged that the security challenges facing the country, particularly in the Northwest, are significant but added that the Armed Forces and other security agencies are making progress in addressing the situation.
He noted, “Insecurity is now a new world order, despite improved technologies,” and requested the understanding of Nigerians as the military and other security agencies work tirelessly to combat it.
“We are tracking down Bello Turji. Getting him is just a matter of time,” he stated, highlighting that security agencies are collaborating to ensure he is brought to justice. “He has nowhere to hide.”
Musa emphasized that the security challenges Nigeria faces are part of a global phenomenon. “We are rising to the occasion, and we are making progress. The security situation is improving, and we will continue to work diligently to ensure that Nigeria is safe and secure.”
He also appealed to Nigerians for support, urging them to report any suspicious activities. “We cannot do this alone; it’s a teamwork effort. We need the cooperation and collaboration of all Nigerians to tackle the security challenges facing our nation.”
“Do not allow these criminals to remain in your communities. Do not trade with them or offer them support. Report any suspicious activities to the authorities, and together, we will defeat these criminal elements,” he stressed.
