Residents and other motorists plying the Mobil/Oluyole Estate road has called on the Oyo State government to order the removal of two speed breakers on the Oluyole Estate bridge.
They noted that the two speed breakers which were put on the bridge during repair work few months ago are responsible for disruption of traffic flow on the road.
Speaking with the Tribune Online on Monday, some motorists who craved anonymity said the two speed breakers which they think were put on the bridge in order to slow down vehicular movement during repair work ought to have been removed upon the completion of work.

One of the motorists said, “I actually thought the speed breakers will be removed since repair work on the bridge has been completed. But I am surprised that months after, they are still there and causing congestion on the road.
“The situation has now become worse as schools have resumed academic session today. You know there are a lot of schools on this axis, ordinarily, there is always disruption of traffic flow here, but with addition of these speed breakers it has become unbearable.
“We are calling on the Oyo State government to please, do something about the urgent removal of the breakers so as to restore normalcy to the road.”
A civil engineer, Mr Olalekan Ogunkanmi, while sharing his thoughts said, “The speed breakers are no longer useful as they ought to have been removed since the conclusion of work on the bridge.
“As a matter of fact, the speed breakers portends danger to the bridge because as vehicles mount them, the pressure on the expansion joints becomes much and that can cause damage to the bridge anytime soon.
“Aside this, the speed breakers are security risk because at late hours or early in the morning armed robbers can use the opportunity of vehicles slowing down at those spots to operate.
“So, in my opinion, I think there is urgent need for the speed breakers to be removed.”
