Nigerians have expressed grievance following the launching of ‘OneNigeriaUnityFabric’ by First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu.
Arogidigba Global Journal reports that the first lady had on Monday launched the country’s unity fabric.
Announcing the development in a post on her official X, she expressed joy, noting that the fabric would be worn nationwide to mark Nigeria’s Independence Day on October 1, 2024.
Captioning the post, she wrote, “Today, as we unveil the #OneNigeriaUnityFabric, my heart is full of joy.”
Reacting to the development, Nigerians on social media condemned the initiative, stressing that citizens are currently facing hunger, unemployment and high cost of living.
@SirDavidBent; “Nigerians are suffering, but Remi Tinubu is launching an expensive “One Unity” fabric to be worn on October 1st by the elites. What are we celebrating? Hunger? Unemployment? Poverty? Crazy inflation? This is pure cruelty disguised so perfectly.”
@Shehusky added, “What is the meaning of Unity Fabrics that Remi Tinubu just launched for 1st October? First the husband, Tinubu changed our National Anthem in the name of unity. Now Remi is doing aso ebi in the name of unity. So National Anthem and Aso Ebi will give us unity. Dumb people.*
Also reacting, @okunakika said, “Nigeria’s First Lady, Remi Tinubu, Launches a National Unity Fabric. Tinubu-led APC administration is more or less a comic relief for some and a nightmarish experience for majority. What is this God. In a country of extreme hunger? Is this the problem?”
@bros_aik, in the same vein, noted, “Whoever gave First Lady Remi Tinubu the advice to launch a so called unity fabric, at a time that Nigerians are experiencing the harshest economic sulphur burn, needs to be fired. This is highly insensitive.”
