The Prime Minister of Ondo Kingdom, the Lisa of Ondo, High Chief Simeon Olusola Oguntimehin, has called on Federal Government to employ new approach to tackle Nigeria’s power sector and the insecurity issues.
The Second in Command to the paramount traditional ruler of Ondo town, the Osemawe, stated this during his 90th birthday celebration and 10th year anniversary as the Lisa of Ondo kingdom, in Ondo state.
According to him, the step will help to unlock the sector’s potential, boost the economy of the country and a key measure to reduce the high unemployment rate in the country.

He said the power sector’s challenges should be given priority, noting that the private sector cannot thrive without better electricity access, saying that reforming the energy sector is crucial to the nation’s development.
He said this will also help to tackle the rate of unemployment in the country, saying many private and indigenous companies had gone moribund because of the unstable power supply in the country.
The Ondo High Chief emphasised that “power generation and the security of lives are critical issues that require urgent government attention at this particular moment.
“Once these two critical issues are addressed, Nigeria will become a better place for people to live in and for business to thrive.
“The government should address two main issues: security and power. If there is security, people can go about their jobs.
“If there is stable electricity, people will be able to use it for their businesses. If those two things are in place, Nigeria will continue to move forward”
He also advocated for a proper federation that would promote unity across the nation, urging all Nigerians to work together to curb unnecessary discord.
The Ondo High Chief, however, reaffirmed his commitment to the development of Ondo Kingdom, promising to continue contributing to its progress.
The event attracted a gathering of distinguished Nigerians from various fields, all paying tribute to the Prime Minister of Ondo Kingdom.
Among the notable attendees were Afenifere leader Reuben Fasoranti, the Osemawe and Paramount ruler of Ondo Kingdom, Oba Victor Kiladejo, as well as members of the National Assembly and captains of industry.
