The United States billionaire owner of Tesla and X, Elon Musk, has said that 80 percent of ‘refugees’ go on vacation to the country they claimed to have fled from.
Musk, who now leads the US Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), disclosed this in his statement on X on Friday.
His comment was in response to a news article dated September 11, 2022, by Breitbart, ‘Sweden: 79 Percent of ‘Refugees’ Have Vacationed in Country They ‘Fled’.
The newspaper had relied on a survey by a polling firm, Novus, to claim that “around 85 percent of people living in Sweden born overseas have gone on vacation to their home country—and that among people who are supposed to be refugees, the number is around 79 percent, despite the fact they are in Sweden in the first place because they were supposedly forced to flee said home country”.
Reacting to the publication, a statement on Thursday, Elon Musk wrote: “Almost 80 percent of “refugees” go on vacation to the country they claim to have fled from”.
Arogidigba Global Journal reports that Elon Musk did not specify the country of reference in his statement; however, his comment comes amid rising cases of organised violence across the globe, including Sweden.
The Prime Minister of Sweden, Ulf Kristersson, had recently admitted that violence cases had ballooned in the country.
According to Nordic Times, the beginning of 2025 has seen bombings carried out at an average of one per day, leading to 27 bombings by January 27—including several in residential communities.
