Over 500 selected widows and people with disabilities (PWDs) have benefitted from a Christmas package worth millions of naira in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.
The free package, disbursed by the God’s Mercy Solution Ministry, owned by the wife of the immediate past governor of the state, Lady Evangelist Omolewa Ahmed, included fabrics, shoes, rice, beans, garri, salt, groundnut oil, tinned tomatoes, and food ingredients.
There was also a free medical checkup for all the beneficiaries.
Speaking on behalf of Lady Evangelist Omolewa Ahmed during the distribution, a cleric, Pastor Bolaji Odejide, said that the ministry aimed to reach out to the world, win souls, and bring transformation into people’s lives.
Pastor Odejide, who said that Christmas is a time to reach out to people and show God’s love, added that people are suffering and there is a need to bring joy to people’s faces.
He also urged well-to-do people in society to bless the downtrodden and called for support for the Leah Orphanage Home, an arm of the ministry.
According to him, the Lord gave her (Mrs. Ahmed) the vision to raise orphans to be giant children for the Lord, saying that people come from different places to the Orphanage Home, “where children are nurtured spiritually and academically.”
The clergy said that the home had orphans who have graduated, adding that five of them gained admission into universities recently.
Speaking with some of the beneficiaries, they described the donor as a Godsend, especially during the Christmas season, and expressed gratitude for the gesture.
