A 13-year-old Dhikrullahi Rubbayat requires N6 million for the treatment of ovarian cancer.
Rubbayat, the fifth child of a watch repairer, Mr Zhikrullahi Adepoju, was diagnosed at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) on September 12, 2023.
According to a medical report signed by Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, Dr E.O Ohazurike, Rubbayat, a nulliparous teenager was presented to Gynaecology emergency on account of abdominal distention, abdominal pain and vomiting of three months duration.
The report reads, “Evaluation suggested intrabdominal tumour, most likely of ovarian origin. She subsequently had staging laparotomy with right salpingoopherectomy and excision of Sister Mary Joseph (SMJ) nodule+omental biopsy on the 6th of November 2023.
“Ascitic fluid cytology was positive for malignancy. Multidisciplinary Team pathology review showed juvenile granulosa cell tumor.
“She had surgical site infection for which she was on daily wound dressing till discharge and was commenced on Chemotheraphy BEP regimen (bleomycin)/etoposide/cisplatin).
“She however reacted adversely to the regimen and was recommenced on Carboplatin/paclitaxel which was well tolerated.
“The treatment will cost N6million. She is improving clinically and to continue management at outpatient clinic, kindly accord her all necessary assistance.”
Her father appealed to the general public, “I solicit the support of all Nigerians, Corporate organisations and philanthropists to raise the required amount for her treatment.”
